Over the last six months our Environmental Planning Team has been most fortunate in having Dan Fox’s assistance. Dan completed his MSc in Environmental Management last year and was keen to gain experience of environmental planning before heading to London to seek employment in education for sustainable development.

His unstinting hard work and first class research abilities have been invaluable to all within the office. Dan has now moved on and we all miss his wry humour. Perhaps he may return one day!

For the past few years The Landmark Practice has been participating in the Bristol Bird Watch run by the Avon Wildlife Trust.We record all the different species of birds that we see in the Landmark garden between the months of October and March and then submit the results to the Wildlife Trust who collate and analyse the results from gardens all over the Bristol area.

So far this winter we have recorded 19 different bird species including blackcap, goldcrest, goldfinch, long-tailed tit, redwing, song thrush and chiffchaff.

The Landmark Practice is pleased to announce that Bernice Roberts (Principal Environmental Planner) and Lyndon Roberts (Senior Ecologist) have both been appointed by the Centre for Sustainable Energy to the new national Renewable Energy and Planning Expert Support Network. Bernice and Lyndon will provide independent advice and guidance to local authority planners and other officers on aspects of wind turbines and planning. (more…)

The Landmark Practice has recently worked with Hawkes Meadow Properties to enable emergency demolition of two derelict cottages which were structurally unsound and in imminent danger of collapse into the High Street in Wellington. The site had been granted full planning permission for the building demolition and construction of new retail and residential properties and a new supermarket with car parking. Bat surveys of the properties had not been requested as part of the planning application. (more…)

Despite world-wide economic gloom The Landmark Practice is busy as ever, and its landscape team was enlarged over the winter with the arrival of two new senior landscape architects. We are delighted to welcome Ben Oakman, formerly with Novell Tullett, and Matt Summers, who previously worked for The Landscape Practice in Sherborne, Dorset.
