Innovative great crested newt mitigation is proving a success!


Great crested newt mosaicThe Landmark Practice ecologists have been monitoring the effectiveness of the great crested newt mitigation strategy at Marnel Park, Basingstoke. Monitoring has been undertaken since the commencement of the project in 2004 (on behalf of David Wilson Homes) and preliminary analysis shows that the breeding population of great crested newt in Popley Ponds Site of Importance to Nature Conservation (SINC) may even be expanding.

Unveiling of newt mosaic, Marnel Park, Basingstoke

Newt mosaicSeptember 2008 saw the unveiling ceremony of a great crested newt mosaic at Marnel Park, Basingstoke. The unveiling ceremony was the culmination of a project involving the internationally-acclaimed artist Julieann Worrall Hood and year seven children at Everest Community College, Basingstoke funded by David Wilson Homes. The forms a focal point at the heart of the development.The Landmark Practice has been closely involved with the development at Marnel Park for eight years.
